So start decluttering now and start to live a minimalist life.

Take proper car of what you own well – like your home, car, bike, phone and electronic goods, and you’ll make them last and be able to use them longer.

Do not upgrade perfectly good electronic gadgets. There is completely NO need for the latest bells and whistles at all. You save lots of money.

Buy Second Hand Stuff

Buy used things and save lots of money!

Do you need a car to commute to work? Always buy a good used car. You will save lots.

How much?

Edmunds.com says that a buyer of a 3-year-old car can save $13,339 over buying the same make and model new.

The biggest savings apply when you buy off-lease luxury midsize cars, small cars and even large cars.

But make sure that you buy a car that is of a size you need. If you drive only yourself to work, a quality used economy car would be perfect.

Make sure that the car you choose is reliable and economical, to keep on saving on its maintenance over the years that you own it.

Having a mechanic perform a thorough inspection before you buy your dream car is money well spent. You’ll avoid buying a lemon that would give you endless headaches and repair bills.

Borrow Things

Do not buy! Save all your money.

Borrow from colleagues, neighbors, public libraries, tool libraries and toy libraries.

Pay in Cash

Paying cash makes spending money real when you hand cold cash over to someone else. If you’re going to a store to buy something you need, take along just a bit more cash than needed. Doing this will help prevent you from overspending due to buying on impulse.

Avoid using credit cards as most people tend to overspend when using cards.

Automate Your Savings

Set your bank account to automatically deduct a certain amount of your pay and deposit it into a special savings account.

You can name it your retirement, holiday, or emergency account, to remind you of its purpose and your future plans.

This amount needs to be large enough, but not too big, so that after a while, you’ll hardly notice the regular absence of this sum of money.

When you automate savings, you won’t have to think about saving to save a substantial sum. You’ll be very pleasantly surprised by how much you can save over 6 months or a year.

Or you can automate the deduction of a fixed amount towards paying off debt with the highest interest first, such as credit card debt.

In this way, you’ll move towards debt free status with little effort spent.
